This Day Coming is an personal collection of tightly crafted songs. Duncan’s unique pop vocal sensibilities, supported by some of Nashville’s best session players, crosses easily between several musical formats. Duncan is comfortably at home with his loose alt rock vocal style, but the music has a tasty, smooth Americana flavor.

This Day Coming is a personal concept album – from the loss of innocence in the opening “I Remember Heaven” through the ups and downs and jagged edges of love, romance and marriage in “Thank You” “Open Your Heart” “You’re OK” & “Cause of It All” to the hopeful anticipation of a new birth in the title cut “This Day Coming”; and then the darkness that came with the loss of a child.

“She Won’t Be Coming Back” with its slow driving blues back beat, and “Test of Time”, a simple cello and acoustic guitar duet, reveal a great depth of emotion and sadness; while “Don’t Protect Me” is both a guitar blast of anger and a promise of undying love. “Face to Face” resolves to breathe deep tonight and get on with life and “Train Ride from Sorrow” completes the journey:  with haunting mandolin and evocative cello and background vocals, we arrive at the final destination, step off the train at the station, and we are free.

“Ultimately,” Duncan says, “What I learned from this experience was that we are never alone and that we need each other’s love and support to endure hard times.”
